The Federal Office of Communications (BAKOM) has commissioned a study for the coming year to examine new regulatory approaches to artificial intelligence; swissAI intends to contribute to the discussion by drawing on its collective expertise.
Many regulations regarding this new technology are already enshrined in law. The association does not believe that expanding existing laws is the best way to address the challenges posed by AI technology. Rather, media companies and digital platforms should be encouraged to verify the authenticity of content in accordance with legal and ethical principles. Voluntary labeling by authors, as provided for in the EU AI Act, is intended to simplify this process.
Active monitoring and adherence to ethical principles are necessary to ensure the integrity and security of digital content. This is the only way to maintain—and, ideally, enhance—trust in digital media.
For this reason, the association is committed to providing comprehensive information about the potential and risks of artificial intelligence. The goal is to dispel any reservations about AI among businesses and the general public and to promote the responsible use of this key technology.
